Yoga & Everyday Life – Intent To Practice

One way to relieve the stresses of life is to practice Yoga. Yoga originated in ancient India. The word ‘yuj,’ which Yoga is derived from, means ‘to add’ or ‘to unite.’ There are other translations as well including ‘to join’ and ‘to attach.’ There are many disciplines related to Yoga including Ayurveda. Both place the responsibility of well-being on the individual. Each person has to decide to perform these routines in order to achieve moksha. Ayurveda adds the right diet, herbal medicine, and massages to the Yogis routine. It’s the perfect combination for this generation of incomplete people.

In today’s world, the individual may feel overwhelmed by the responsibilities of society. Yoga provides an outlet for many individuals that seek oneness with the world and their peers. This connection sustains the individual. In fact, yoga is a constructive approach to well-being that takes less than 15 minutes to achieve. By calming the mind and body, you can return to work replenished and rejuvenated.

Anyone that practices Yoga strives to attain moksha, which is liberation. Yoga is viewed differently by different people. Here are the four main interpretations:

  1. Yoga is a meditative method of discovering dysfunctional perception and cognition. Yoga is used to overcome this ailment, alleviate any suffering, and find inner peace as well as salvation.
  1. Yoga involves the melding of consciousness with everyone and everything.
  1. Yoga is a means to grasp the impermanent and the permanent reality by attaining enlightened consciousness.
  1. Yoga is uses as a method for entering the bodies of others and generating multiple bodies. It is also used to perform other supernatural feats.

Today, Yoga is used as an alternative type of exercise. It has many health benefits. Yoga is a low impact activity that helps relieve the effects of a sedentary lifestyle. It helps improve stamina and reduces stress. It also relieves low back pain. Cancer patients use yoga to relieve depression, insomnia, fatigue, and pain. It can also be used to improve anxiety control. Regular yoga sessions reduce the chances of mood disturbances. It also relieves sleep anxiety, promotes spiritual growth, and improves quality of life.

Yoga is also a lifestyle. Many people practice yoga as a regular activity. They usually practice at home in a private setting or at a gym. Large groups of yogis performing in public has become common in many cities. It’s similar to watching sporting events. You can watch yogis performing routines while enjoying the day. One place to find yogis is at public parks.

Yoga is dangerous as well. Yogis can sustain injuries that require months to heal. For example, yogis suffer back injuries, muscle tears, knee injuries, retinal tears, arterial tears, nerve damage, and arthritis.

Despite the dangers, many continue with their routines for years. Learn more at the Kerala Ayurveda Centre
